What's new in version 8.0?

New Features

  • You can control iTunes and Winamp by using QuickTab shortcuts.
    • there are keyboard shortcuts for pause/play, next track, and previous track.
    • Current PC-Com users will have to manually set these up by typing options as a keyword.
    • Recommended values are (Hotkey) + 1 to pause/resume track, (Hotkey) + 2 to skip to previous track, or (Hotkey) + 3 to skip to the next track.
  • Letter command macros have been changed to Variable Macros
    • You can now set multiple variables instead of just one.
    • Variable macros have the same form as normal macros (just a keyword name), and PC-Com will prompt you for values during playback.
  • You can now edit a macro's speed, looping options, and delays at any time, not just after recording it.
    • You can open the macro editor by typing macros [create] as a keyword, clicking Next, and clicking the Edit Macro button.
  • New feature to remember a window's size and position
    • This will work for any window on your screen. Just change the window's size and position to the way you want it, type remember window coordinates as a keyword in PC-Com. Then make up a name for the keyword.
    • When you type the keyword later, PC-Com will change the coordinates of the topmost window on your screen to the size and position of the original window.
  • New preset keyword -- recently added keywords will show a list of recently added keywords
  • New preset keyword -- menu will open the PC-Com sytem tray menu
  • PC-Com can launch documents in Lotus Notes.
  • There is now a Hide all notes feature.

Enhancements

  • More QuickTab shortcuts for configuration (6 - 9, 0, F6 - F12)
  • Enhanced the mp3 player feature (p [band] - [song])
    • You no longer have to separate the artist and song by typing a dash. Just type any words that are in the filename.
    • Example: "p floyd wish" would most likely play Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.
  • The timer/countdown feature was improved for easier accessibility. New alarm setting
  • The tutorial includes a link to the long list of PC-Com shortcuts
  • Keywords launch faster and the autocomplete is smoother.
