PC-Com is only visible when you press a hotkey and type a keyword. The toolbar disappears after you press Enter. This provides even more convenience and work space for you.
Macro Recorder In addition to opening anything, PC-Com lets you record macros (a combination of mouse clicks and keystrokes), and you can play back macros later by typing the macro name into the toolbar. This lets you automate your repetitive computer tasks just by pressing a few keys on your keyboard. Click here for more information about the Macro Recorder.
Change window display settings with Functions In addition to doing everything for you, PC-Com contains a new feature called
functions. With functions, you can change the display settings of a window/program.
Functions include make window translucent (partially transparent), hide/show window, close
window, set window on top, create hotkey, change text, copy window text, minimize window. These shortcuts are just a brief summary of PC-Com. They give the general idea of the program, but if you want to find out everything that PC-Com can do, click the link below. The long list of PC-Com shortcuts.
The Command List When you install PC-Com, it will scan your desktop and Start Menu for commonly used programs. It will set up between 100 and 200 keywords for you during this process. This way, instead of wasting time searching for programs in your Start Menu, you can open any program and access any shortcut by pressing the hotkey, typing the program's name, and pressing Enter. PC-Com is just a computer program, so it will not be able to add keywords for everything that you use on your computer. You will still have to manually add keywords to folders that you often use or websites that you visit. But don't worry, this process is just as easy.
You can make keywords to files easily by right-clicking an icon and clicking Add keyword to PC-Com. PC-Com will get the path of the file for you, so all you have to do is type a name for the keyword. Making keywords to web sites is just as easy. When you are looking at a web site on your browser, just type add as keyword in PC-Com. PC-Com will automatically get the URL of the site for you. PC-Com accepts more shortcuts than just keywords. You can type the URL of any website, and PC-Com will take you to it. Examples: google.com, www.ebay.com. You can also type the location of files or folders, such as c:\windows, c:\program files, etc.
Letter Commands
Another useful feature in PC-Com is letter commands. Letter commands let you quickly search for items on a website. There are eight preset commands in PC-Com, including look up a word in a dictionary (Dictionary.com), Thesaurus.com, Google Web Search, Google Image Search, Wikipedia Search, Download.com program search, eBay search, and a Send Mail shortcut. You can also make your own letter commands.
