Till now this wasnt possible. The PS3 has a great security system and recognises any burnt disks that we may make. But this security system has been broken. Here were the problems :

• The PS3 hard burns the boot sequence of a disk onto genuine disk.
• When the disk is played the PS3 looks into this area of the disk and boots up.
• When a disk is copied by normal methods the boot sequence is not copied, and the disk is pretty much useless when run on the PS3.

This is why you couldn’t burn and play downloaded games the normal way.

But here is a step by step tutorial on how to play downloaded games and backup copies of PS3 games without using a modchip or any other mods to your console.

1. Download or get a genuine PS3 disk. This can be ANY disk , PAL or NTSC.
2. Buy a blue ray media. Preferably from Sony as they are more durable. Make sure its a dvd-r and generally go or dvd9 disks not dvd5.
3. DOWNLOAD this software called Game Copy Wizard. This is a new software that is the core of this tutorial. This software has managed to isolate the boot sequence from the genuine disks and burns them onto the backup disk.
4. Install Game copy wizard using the installation wizard.
5. Now Start the software. Select new PS3 disk option. Insert the genuine PS3 disk you want to make a backup copy of OR select the ISO file of the downloaded game.
6. Now insert the blue ray media you bought into the disk drive and select burn.
7. The burn process starts now and may take a while. The disk you get at the end of the burn process is a ready to play brand new backup disk. This disk can be directly run on the PS3 WITHOUT the need for a modchip or softmods like cog swap or swap magic.

This method has been tested on both the Fat and Slim versions of the PS3 and works fine on both. As I mentioned the game disk burnt WILL be as good as a genuine disk and will play without any problems. So FINALLY now thanks to game copy wizard there is a way to just burn PS3 games and play them without the hassle of any mods. Also this method does not violate your warrenty in any way and is perectly legal.
