Yes. AOL Tools is a free program that does not contain any advertisements, spyware, or hidden costs. If you want to support AOL Tools or Boletrice Software, just tell everyone about AOL Tools and PC-Com. If you really want to support Boletrice Software, upgrade to PC-Com Pro.
What versions of AOL are compatible with AOL Tools? AOL Tools currently works with AOL 7.0, 8.0, 8.0 Plus, 9.0, 9.0 SE, 9.0 Optimized, 9.0 Security Edition, and 8.0 Canada. You can configure your AOL version in AOL Tools by right-clicking the smiley icon in your system tray and clicking Options.
How can I stay online without getting kicked off? There is no way to prevent getting kicked off from losing an internet connection. But you can stop getting kicked offline for being idle. If you keep your IM Away Message on (located in the Buddy List), AOL will not kick you offline. You can also try going into a private chat room that no one else is in and minimizing the window.
How do I use the Cool Chat Sender/Fader? You can open the Color Fader by clicking the Chat Room label on the main window and clicking Cool Sender (Fader). Then click the Color Fader button in the new window that pops up. When you open the Color Fader, you will see a sequence of color boxes at the bottom of the window. This is how your text color will blend. Click each color box to change the color. For example, your color sequence could look like this: n nnnnnnnnnnnIf you want your text to fade, the colors have to be different. The fader in AOL Tools works for instant messages and chat rooms. It does not work for e-mail messages.
The Cool IMer/Get In Full Room/Cool Chat Sender doesn't work... Make sure you are pressing Enter or Ctrl+Enter on your keyboard to send messages. Clicking the Send button with your mouse will not work for faded messages. Right-click the AOL Tools smiley icon in your system tray and click Options. Make sure your correct AOL version is checked at the top of the window. If your messages are still not fading, try upgrading to the newest version of AOL. You can upgrade by going to AOL keyword: upgrade. You should also download the newest version of AOL Tools by visiting www.boletrice.com/aoltools.
No. AOL fixed the loophole of punting back in version 4.0. If I did add a punter, AOL would be very angry with me also.
Will there ever be an Address Book Exporter? I wish there would be, but unfortunately it will not happen in AOL Tools. I started programming it but it was way too complicated and possibly impossible, if that makes any sense. I apologize for saying it would be a future addon. The good thing is that AOL is supposively working on their own Address Book Exporter for the next AOL version.
Will there ever be a Buddy List Transfer? Maybe next summer, but I really don't know. This feature uses the same method as the Address Book Exporter, which is very difficult to program. You can check the Coming Soon page for any information on this.
How do you uninstall/remove AOL Tools? You can uninstall AOL Tools by clicking Start - Programs - Boletrice AOL Tools - Uninstall.
